The $6 billion-plus Capital Improvement Program has spent more than $2 billion to date as of July 31, 2008. More than $740 million of this has been paid to minority and female business enterprise owners for services rendered.

More than 150,000 cubic yards of cement is being used to build the new car rental center. That’s enough cement to build the Gwinnett Center more than seven times over! The car rental center's Automated People Mover will carry passengers to the rental car customer service counters in less than five minutes. By centralizing all rental car operations adjacent to the Airport, the car rental cetner will eliminate the need for rental shuttle buses and dramatically reduce the number of rental cars on terminal roadways.
In 2008, Hartsfield-Jackson accommodated 90 million passengers, making it the world’s busiest airport for the 10th consecutive year.
Restroom upgrades throughout the Airport will save more than 44 million gallons of water a year.
The “Spirit of Atlanta” artwork by muralist Deborah Wian Whitehouse is installed at Hartsfield-Jackson near the escalators coming up to the terminal area. The photomural, featuring children of various backgrounds, was taken at Centennial Olympic Park and represents Atlanta’s diversity and legacy of the 1996 Olympic Games. It still hangs today.
