This city-wide phenomenon will take place in locations around Atlanta and will include events such as track & field, basketball, tennis, swimming, bowling, and more! The games promote well-being and an active lifestyle and is a celebration of being healthy and fit all year round.
What is the National Senior Games Association?
The National Senior Games Association (NSGA) is the national organization that spearheads the senior games movement, sanctioning and coordinating the efforts of senior games organizations across the country.
The NSGA and its state and local affiliates have a long history of motivating active adults to lead a healthy lifestyle through the Senior Games movement. The National Senior Olympic Games has grown to be one of the largest multi-sport athletic competitions in the world.
The NSGA is dedicated to promoting healthy lifestyles for adults through education, fitness, and sport. The NSGA strives to assist adults 50 and over in achieving greater value and quality in their lives by staying healthy, active, and fit.
Originally held in St. Louis in 1987, 2,500 athletes participated in the first National Games. In June of 2007 over 12,000 athletes will travel to Louisville, KY. to compete in over 15 sporting events.
Events are held in hundreds of locations around the country in 49 states. As one can imagine, it is a massive coordination of facilities, equipment, volunteers, awards, and much more. Financial resources come from many areas including entrance fees, contributions, and corporate sponsorship.

The Atlanta Senior Olympics celebrates being over fifty and active all year round. With events in track & field, swimming, golf, basketball, tennis, table tennis, bowling, billiards, and more, participants will range from serious competitors to couch potatoes.
It is the mission of the Atlanta Senior Olympics to serve as a stimulant for those fifty and older to stay in shape and be healthy and to encourage participation in an active lifestyle year round.
