City of Atlanta Launches Pilot Incentive Based Recycling Program

Pilot Recycling Rewards Program Will Help Promote Sustainability by Increasing Recycling Participation in Atlanta

Atlanta, Georgia –  The City of Atlanta announced today that a select group of Atlanta residents will soon be rewarded for their curbside recycling efforts. In an effort to encourage proper recycling habits, boost recycling participation, reduce the amount of recyclables being sent to area landfills and save taxpayer money, City officials introduced the pilot rewards program as an opportune way to move towards a greener, cleaner Atlanta.

City of Atlanta Announces PARKatlanta, New Public Parking Management Program

The City of Atlanta has taken an innovative approach to improve services related to public parking.  Legislation has been adopted that will allow for a new parking management program to be implemented.  This new program will improve traffic flow in the city and maximize the utilization of parking spaces for the public, residents, business owners, tourists and employees.  

Effective November 1, 2009, the management and operation of the City’s on-street parking program will be outsourced to Professional Account Management, LLC, a Duncan Solutions company, doing business as PARKAtlanta. The new program will include and the enforcement of parking-related regulations on behalf of the City.

Effective beginning the week of September 14, 2009, Public Works will resume weekly collection of yard trimmings and recycling.  These items will be collected on the same day as scheduled household garbage collection. 16th Street to Partialy Close October 29th; Reopen by Winter 2009 as part of the 14th Street Bridge Replacement Project

The Georgia Department of Transportation advises Midtown motorists they will not be able to use 16th Street to access I-75 northbound beginning Wednesday, October 29. The road is expected to reopen next year when major work is completed on a new ramp from the Downtown Connector to 17th Street. Contact: Cyrstal Paulk-Buchanan (404) 631-1835.
