Cathy Hampton began her legal career as an associate with the New York law firm of Shearman and Sterling after graduating from Spelman College and Harvard Law School. Cathy practiced corporate securities and international finance law at Shearman and then marketing, advertising and general corporate law at the National Basketball Association.

She later served as Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for EarthLink, Inc. and General Counsel and Secretary for EarthLink’s PeoplePC subsidiary.

Cathy's most recent legal role was Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at RARE Hospitality International, Inc. Her responsibilities included corporate governance, securities, general corporate, intellectual property, compliance, real estate, marketing, employment and litigation matters for RARE and its 20,000 employees.

Cathy is a member of the Bar in Georgia, New York and the District of Columbia. Her professional affiliations include the General Counsel Roundtable, American Bar Association, National Bar Association, Association of Corporate Counsel and the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys.

She has served on the boards of VOX Youth Communications and the Women’s Resource Center and chaired the Atlanta Women’s Foundation Economic Justice Program.

She is a member of Leadership Atlanta’s Class of 2003, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Cascade United Methodist Church and was named by Ebony Magazine as one of its “30 National Leaders Under 30”. A native of Magnolia, Mississippi, Cathy resides in East Atlanta.
