City officials will host a senior celebration in honor of Older Atlantans Month. This year’s theme is “Age Out Loud." The event will host educational workshops, vendors, interactive exhibits, food, entertainment, games, contests and prizes. Older Atlantans Month is an opportunity to raise awareness about important issues facing older Atlantans and to celebrate how seniors are taking command of their health, wellness and civic engagement.

At the event, AARP of Georgia and the Atlanta Commission on Aging will acknowledge the City of Atlanta’s commitment to Age-Friendly communities and its recent approval of a multi-year action plan to enhance accessibility, infrastructure and community supports. The Age-Friendly Atlanta Action Plan provides for community sustainability, to include enhancing programs and assessing development and infrastructure improvements that promote a walkable, livable, multi-modal and green lifestyle.
