WHAT: The City of Atlanta Fire Rescue Department will host a special ceremony to recognize and award Joshua DeWitt Stukes with the status of Posthumous Honorary Chief Officer, the highest level of recognition for civilians/firefighters.

Honored for his passionate dedication to community service, Joshua Stukes was a 23 year old City of Atlanta resident who passed away on March 24, 2016, after being struck by a vehicle as he was offering aide to a person involved in a car accident. During the ceremony, family members will announce the creation of the Joshua Stukes Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to award scholarships and educate young people on health and emergency preparedness.
