city of atlanta involvement with American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

The City of Atlanta is currently pursuing stimulus funding provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). This funding includes federal tax cuts, expansion of unemployment benefits and other social welfare provisions, and domestic spending in public safety, housing, energy efficiency and infrastructure. The stimulus money for Atlanta will be used to ensure continued vital City services, provide assistance to citizens in need, and stimulate the City's economy.

The City is working closely with the Office of the Vice President and the funding agencies to secure funding across a targeted list of 34 programs. To date, $73 million has been committed to the City of Atlanta for job training, public safety, and airport programs. An additional $51 million has been committed to projects within the City of Atlanta that will be administered by agencies other than the City of Atlanta.  See submitted applications here.
