WHAT:

Earth Hour Atlanta Rally.

Earth Hour Atlanta will take place on Saturday, March 29, 2008 from 8:00 to 9:00 pm ET.  Mayor Shirley Franklin accepted the World Wildlife Fund’s invitation to represent the Eastern Time Zone of the US in Earth Hour 2008 to complement the recently launched “Sustainable Atlanta” environmental initiative.

As part of the event, residents, businesses and organizations are being asked to voluntarily turn off non-essential lights for one hour, 8:00 – 9:00 pm ET to make a powerful statement in support of global action on climate change.  Dozens of major landmark buildings in Downtown, Midtown, Atlantic Station and Buckhead will go dark in honor of the event---as will neighborhoods across the city. The City of Atlanta has committed to turn off the lights in all city-owned buildings.
