Atlanta Fire Rescue began the process of damage assessment due to the recent floods. Yesterday we found 59 single family homes, 55 multifamily homes, and 1 business, destroyed by the flood. We sent teams into the four areas hit the hardest to examine the area. The results of the first day assessments are below. We will continue to make assessments and forward those as we receive them.

According to APD Motors division, only Krog Street underpass and Ridgewood Rd remained closed as of last evening.

- The Atlanta Fire Department opened its Joint Operation Center (JOC) this morning around 8:30 am
- The Atlanta Fire Department has searched 150 apartments on Peachtree and 58 residents are currently displaced and the Red Cross is responding to those residents
- Another area near Peachtree in Midtown has 10 people who have been displaced because of the flooding
- Georgia Mutual Aid Groups have brought boats in near Peachtree Battle Circle to help rescue residents
- The DPRCA Office of Parks’ Forestry Unit is on the scene working with AFD and APD. There are 33 trees down and 12 have been completed

Overnight Atlanta Fire Rescue responded to 57 calls for service. Water reached a plateau and began to reside. Proctor Creek began flooding and affected 42 homes in the Lincoln Homes neighborhood.

Overnight we rescued 1 person from Peachtree Creek near Bohler Rd and Hanover West and in the Lincoln Homes neighborhood, a total of 17 adults and 3 children were rescued from flooding. This brings the total number of rescues to 101.

We received assistance from 3 departments across the state. The City of Martinez, Columbia County, and Augusta-Richmond County sent personnel and boats to assist in rescuing stranded citizens.

Today we will continue to assess the flooding and continue searching for citizens needing assistance. We urge everyone to stay out of the flooded areas due to the hazards that are still unknown.
STREET CLOSINGS:
A sink hole has forced county officials to close Cascade Road between Milano Drive and Danforth Road. There is also a tree leaning into the right-of-way along this stretch of Cascade Road near Utoy Springs Creek.
In the Sandy Springs area, there were several trees down on wires in the area of Mount Vernon Highway and Powers Ferry Road.
In Buckhead, Northside Drive at Woodward Way is closed because a tree has fallen.
PUBLIC WORKS
The City of Atlanta Department of Public Works maintenance crews are responding to numerous complaints of roadway flooding and street blockages due to down trees and limbs. Our primary focus is barricade placement in advance of these blockages, and barricade placement around road washouts.

City Hall East
The City of Atlanta’s City Hall East location at 675 Ponce De Leon Ave, Atlanta GA 30308 will be closed due to flood damages. All public services with the exception of police property which is located on the North Ave side of the building will be closed for clean up and assessment.
