City of Atlanta Celebrates GIS Day, Launches Public GIS Website

WHAT:

In observance of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Day 2008, the City of Atlanta will unveil its public GIS website, which provides an array of geographic information including a map catalog, interactive maps and property information such as zoning, future land use, flood hazard, tax records, and permit history.

 

The City of Atlanta’s GIS professionals will be on hand to demonstrate the public GIS website, provide information on training and explain how GIS technology is used throughout City government.

 

GIS Day, which is part of the National Geographic Society's Geography Awareness Week, provides an international forum for users of geographic information systems technology to demonstrate real-world applications that are making a difference in our society.
