Mayor Shirley Franklin to Visit KIPP WAYS Academy

WHAT:	Mayor Shirley Franklin will visit KIPP WAYS  Academy to tour classrooms, meet with students and observe the school’s unique approach to education.   KIPP WAYS ( Knowledge is Power - West Atlanta Young Scholars) Academy has challenged the odds by raising academic achievement for its 320 students, 73 percent of whom qualify for the federal free or reduced price lunch.   In May 2008, KIPP WAYS Academy was rated the number one school in Georgia serving low income students by The Georgia Public Policy Foundation, making it the top ‘No Excuses’ school in the state.
