Atlanta City Hall Sidewalk Improvement Project

The Department of Public Works is pleased to announce the implementation of the Atlanta City Hall Sidewalk Improvement Project.  The purpose of this project is to address the potential slip hazards that may occur on the pavement during wet conditions. The focus area is located on the Trinity Avenue side of Atlanta City Hall.

January 2009 – March 2009, new sidewalks will be installed along Trinity Avenue, NW between Washington Street and Central Avenue.

Access to the Trinity Avenue entrance of Atlanta City Hall will be closed during construction.

The existing granite pavers in front of Atlanta City Hall will be replaced with high friction aggregate sidewalks within the existing right-of-way. Transportation Impact Fees will be used for the construction of this project.

The project consists of the following:

  • Construction of redesigned ADA compliant ramps at both intersections on the northeast corner of Trinity Avenue and Central Avenue and the northwest corner of Trinity Avenue and Washington Street.
  • Removal and reconstruction of concrete sidewalks along the north side of Trinity Avenue between Central Avenue and Washington Street.
  • Reconstruction of the common seating area located on the east side of the building entrance.
  • Removal of existing tree stumps located on the east side of the building entrance.
  • Construction of 350 linear feet of sidewalk

Construction will occur within the City of Atlanta’s right-of-way between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. Local traffic access will be maintained for the duration.  Parking will be prohibited in these areas during construction.

For questions or concerns during the construction of this project, please contact the Department of Public Works at (404) 330-6739.
