City of Atlanta, Fulton County and Zoo Atlanta to Offer Free Admission to City and County Residents and Employees

Through a partnership between the City of Atlanta, Fulton County and Zoo Atlanta, during “City of Atlanta and Fulton County Family Days” on Saturday, August 16th and Sunday, August 17th, the zoo will offer free admission to residents and employees of the City of Atlanta and Fulton County. This partnership will give residents and employees an opportunity to learn more about one of the City’s oldest cultural institutions.

During “City of Atlanta and Fulton County Family Days”, residents and employees can visit one of only four zoos in the U.S. exhibiting giant pandas Lun Lun, Yang Yang and their panda cub Mei Lan.  Zoo Atlanta is also home to one of the nation’s most recognized collections of great apes and is a global center of excellence in the care and reproduction of vanishing amphibians and reptiles. From well-known native wildlife to critically endangered species on the brink of extinction, the Zoo offers memorable close encounters with more than 800 animals from around the world.

To qualify for free admission, valid proof of residency or city/county employment such as a driver’s license, state ID, voter ID, utility bill with a current address, City of Atlanta employee identification card or Fulton County Government employee identification card is required.  One adult can accompany up to three children.  Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Zoo Atlanta gates open at 9:30 a.m. and the park closes at 5:30 p.m.

Visitors are strongly urged to take MARTA Route 97 from the Five Points Rail Station which will run directly to the zoo.  Buses run from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.  Zoo Atlanta is located in historic Grant Park at 800 Cherokee Avenue in southeast Atlanta.   For more information including directions and general admission inquiries, call 404.624.WILD or visit www.zooatlanta.org.
