The Mayor, the Council and citizens have discussed the existing and proposed Commercial Solicitation ordinances for the past several months. The passionate debate is indicative of how much we all care about our City.
We believe that the amended ordinance is a collective agreement to do what is in the best interest of the people of Atlanta.
Mayor Franklin would like to thank the Council for their thoughtful deliberation on the issue. The amended ordinance strikes an important balance of protecting the First Amendment rights of individuals and the absolute right that every person has to move about the City without fear.
The administration will make every effort to ensure that it is implemented in the spirit that it was adopted.
