media statement - TDT contract termination

As of Monday, August 15, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (HJAIA) has terminated the contract of The Design Team (TDT) for the design of the International Terminal at the Airport. The termination was the result of TDT’s inability to meet contractual obligations, including presenting designs that would have cost an additional $140 million over the original budget.

“This is a setback, and certainly one we had hoped to avoid.  However, we plan to deliver, within budget, the world-class International Terminal that Atlanta, the state of Georgia, and our millions of passengers from around the world, deserve,” said Airport General Manager, Ben DeCosta.

HJAIA plans to launch a search for a new designer to complete the International Terminal and hopes to salvage the investments already made.
