The Department of Watershed Management, the Atlanta Development Authority and the Department of Planning and Community Development will host Developer’s Day, an informative and interactive event, on October 5, 2005 in the City Hall atrium from 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM. The City of Atlanta is inviting engineers, builders, architects and other professionals in the industry. Interested residents are also invited to participate.
Mayor Shirley Franklin will welcome Developer’s Day participants as part of her initiative to build a more responsive and effective government. “With the new online permitting launch this past spring we are well on our way to creating efficient infrastructures that offer a higher level of customer service to construction related businesses that want to or who are currently doing business with the City of Atlanta.”
The event will also address questions and concerns about various topics including recent enhancements to the permitting process. In April, the Bureau of Buildings launched online permitting and began issuing permits online for commercial and residential plumbing, electrical, elevator and residential HVAC with commercial soon to follow. In addition re-inspections that do not require plan review can also be applied for online.
Planning and Community Development Acting Commissioner James Shelby stated, “Developer’s Day is a great opportunity for the construction and contracting community to ask questions and get answers directly from our staff. It is also an opportunity for our business partners to gain a greater understanding of city policies and procedures that were recently enhanced.”
