Brian Leary Appointed Chair of the Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC)


The City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs announces the appointment of Brian Leary, Vice President of Design and Development/Atlantic Station L.L.C. Developer AIG Global Real Estate, as the new Chair of the Public Art Advisory Committee, (PAAC).

In addition to serving as VP of Atlantic Station, the historic redevelopment of the Atlantic Steel property in Midtown, Leary is a member of the Trust for Public Land (TPL) Advisory Board and the ACVB Board of Directors. He is also an adjunct professor at Georgia Tech and was named by Georgia Trend Magazine as one of the State's "40 under 40" leaders in 2003.

Camille Love, Director of the Office of Cultural Affairs maintains, “Brian Leary promises to bring fresh perspectives to Atlanta’s public art endeavors as we seek to improve the private sector’s participation in furthering the City’s public art presence.”  Director Love goes on to say, “We appreciate the important contributions to Public Art made by esteemed PAAC members first appointed in 2004, and we welcome the new members who are poised to serve.”

PAAC members are appointed by the mayor and comprised of a diverse group of distinguished artists and related professionals, as well as civic and business leaders.  Members of PAAC are appointed for two years and may elect to serve the second term. Presently, along with Brian Leary, newly appointed members are Juliet Blackburn-Beamon, Humanities Professor, Clark Atlanta University; Anne A. Dennington, Director, Atlanta Celebrates Photography;  Oscar Harris, Architect,  Founder & CEO, Turner Associates & Planners; Paul Jones, Arts Patron/Philanthropist; and Sharon Silvermintz, VP, Business Services Officer III, Branch Banking & Trust.  Returning for a second term are Sabir Khan, Associate Dean of Architecture, Georgia Tech; Gregor Turk, Artist/Curator and Lisa Tuttle, Artist/Curator.
