City of Atlanta Department of Parks Recreation and Cultural Affairs Office of Cultural Affairs Public Art Program City Gallery East presents the “Masters Series”


The Office of Cultural Affairs Public Art Program presents an exhibition of former Annual Masters Series artists beginning Friday, January 25, 2008 through March 14, 2008 at City Gallery East.  The Masters Series inaugurated in 1995 by former gallery director, Eddie Granderson, honored Georgia artists who had attained a high level of proficiency in his or her chosen discipline. There were thirteen Annual Masters Series exhibitions, featuring the work of fifteen artists.

Participating Masters Series artists include:

  1. 1995 - Jim Alexander – Photographer
  2. 1996 - Colleen Sterling – Mixed Media
  3. 1997 - Stephanie Jackson – Oil on canvas
  4. 1998 - Louis Delsarte and John Riddle –   Mixed media
  5. 1999 - Michael Murrell - Sculpture
  6. 2000 - Beverly Buchannan – Sculpture and drawings
  7. 2001 - Larry Walker – Drawings, Sculpture and Mixed Media
  8. 2002 - Herbert Creecy – Mixed Media paintings
  9. 2003 - Donald Locke – Sculpture and Mixed Media
  10. 2004 - Lucinda Bunnen - Photography
  11. 2005 - Wayne Kline and George Beasley – Wk – Lithographs / GB – Sculpture - Mixed Media and Drawings
  12. 2006 - Mario Petrirena – Installations – Sculpture and Mixed Media
  13. 2007 - Katherine Mitchell – Mixed Media Drawings and Paintings

There will be a Masters Series Reunion Reception on February 22, 2008 at 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at City Gallery East  The community is invited.
