EVENT DESCRIPTION: Music in the Park (MITP) is a program created by jazz saxophonist Kebbi Williams which utilizes public spaces to promote social interaction and provide youth exposure to world music through performance. Music in the Park has a twelve year track record of highly successful multicultural events which bring together professional musicians and local youth for a free annual performance in Atlanta's Historic West End. The 2023 plan involves connecting Peeples St SW from the Historic Hammonds House located at 503 Peeples Street south to Rose Circle Park (the other end of Peeples Street). The MITP event will transform these 6-city neighborhood blocks of the Historic West End Peeples St into a contiguous stretch of street/porch venues during the afternoon, which will then become a parade route, culminating in a drumline competition performance event finale at Rose Circle Park.
