EVENT DESCRIPTION: The Historic Westside Cultural Arts Council enlightens, empowers, and enhances the lives of the residents within the Westside of Atlanta. We employ cultural programs and activities throughout the year to fulfill this purpose. On October 9th we are hosting our 13th Annual Festival of Lights. The Festival of Lights was founded in 2009 under the vision and guidance of Mother Mamie Moore, due in large part to the senseless and tragic death of Kathryn Johnston. As Mother Moore says, “Light erodes darkness” and in 2009, we began celebrating the “Light” – the amazing talent, intelligence, creativity and humanity of the community. The Festival of Lights with host at health fair free to all participants, a bounce house, Arts and crafts and other fun activities for the kids.
LOCATION/ROUTE: Kathryn Johnston Memorial Park - 870 Proctor Street NW. Route to begin on Proctor to Lindsey. Take Lowery to Boone. End at Proctor Street.
