Statement on Passing of Tina Turner
ATLANTA—Mayor Andre Dickens issued the following statement on the passing of Tina Turner.
“I am saddened to hear of the passing of music legend Tina Turner. Turner rose from humble beginnings to become an iconic pioneer in a genre that didn’t include many Black women. Her powerful voice is one of the most recognizable in music. The city of Atlanta joins the world in mourning the loss of the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.”
