City of Atlanta Welcomes the 36th Annual United Negro College Fund An Evening of Stars®

ATLANTA –The City of Atlanta announced today that it will host the 36th annual United Negro College Fund (UNCF) An Evening of Stars® on April 12, 2015, at the Atlanta Civic Center, 395 Piedmont Ave, Atlanta, GA 30308. The event is being taped and will air nationally on Black Entertainment Television (BET) on Sunday, April 25, 2015 at 10:00 p.m.

Actor and Black-ish executive producer Anthony Anderson returns as host of the star-studded event for a third consecutive year. The program will join African American entertainment superstars with UNCF's own "rising star" students to focus attention on the importance of obtaining a college education.

“Atlanta is proud to be the home of UNCF An Evening of Stars®,” said Mayor Kasim Reed. “Through the work of UNCF and its supporters, our nation’s youth are receiving educational opportunities and resources to complete their education and continue along the road to achieving their dreams. I applaud this year’s performers and sponsors for their unwavering commitment to invest in future generations.”

UNCF supports students’ education and development through scholarships and other programs, strengthens its 37 member colleges and universities, and advocates for the importance of minority education and college readiness. UNCF An Evening of Stars® has been the hallmark of African American superstars supporting minority education for 36 years.

“As it always has, UNCF is answering the call to make a difference in the lives of minority youth and the community at large. In the spirit of campaign ‘Black Lives Matter’, UNCF is redoubling its efforts and joining with other influential voices to ensure ‘Black Lives Matter,” said Dr. Michael L. Lomax, President and CEO of UNCF.

This year's An Evening of Stars®’ sponsors include McDonald’s, Wells Fargo, Target, Buick, iHeartMedia, Walton Family Foundations, BET and the City of Atlanta.

K. Michelle, Yolanda Adams, Estelle and Jussie Smollett will perform. Tickets to the show’s taping can be purchased at www.UNCF.org/AEOStickets.
