What is Atlanta Main Street?

Atlanta’s business districts, and the small businesses that inhabit them, are essential to the city’s future economic vitality, walkability and cultural identity. In 2019, the Department of City Planning launched the Atlanta Main Street initiative in partnership with the Georgia Main Street Program. Atlanta Main Street supports neighborhood business districts and  implements the Main Street approach for community-driven, preservation-based, economic development. The initiative included a capacity-building fellowship program to train and support representatives of four community organizations in Sweet Auburn, East Atlanta, West End, and Westview, as well as training and events for a network of community leaders serving business districts across the city.
