Employee Spotlight Awards Program
The City of Atlanta recognizes the substantial role that employees play in shaping our customers’ and stakeholders’ satisfaction and the general perception of how city government is managed. Through the Department of Human Resources, the City of Atlanta is launching an enterprise-wide Employee Recognition Program to encourage City of Atlanta employees to go beyond our constituents’ expectations and meet the highest standards of service to the community. This program provides a platform to identify and reward performance and dedication that both exceeds normal expectations and reflects superior employee performance and innovation. Employees who are identified as meeting the criteria for the program will be eligible for the Employee Spotlight Award.

Background
Our vision for Atlanta is One Atlanta—an affordable, resilient, and equitable Atlanta; a safe and welcoming city; a city with world-class employees, infrastructure, and services; an ethical, transparent, and fiscally responsible government; thriving neighborhoods, communities, and businesses; and residents who are equipped for success.
The City appreciates the efforts of its employees to achieve the One Atlanta vision. Outstanding employees deserve to be recognized both as a reward for exceptional performance and as a model to other employees. Organizations consistently recognized as "great places to work" are typically those that frequently recognize, validate, and value outstanding work—not only by telling employees they are doing an excellent job but also by giving them rewards or noncash incentives. This employee recognition program is designed to raise employee morale; attract and retain key employees; elevate productivity; improve quality, safety, and customer service; and reduce employee stress, absenteeism, and turnover.
A positive employee reward and recognition strategy essentially reflects the conviction that nothing is better than a sincere "Thank you … job well done."
Scope
This program is designed to reward City employees who exceed normal job duties and expectations, and demonstrate the embodiment of our 3 city-wide core values:
1. Committed to customer service
2. Focused on equity
3. Grounded in ethical conduct
