The City Utilities Committee of the Atlanta City Council held a public hearing on July 9, 2024, on proposed legislation, 24-O-1214, to amend the code to adjust the taxes, assessments, service fees, and charges for solid waste services.

The Department of Public Works (DPW) Office of Solid Waste Services (SWS) currently services nearly 100,000 residential garbage and yard trimmings collection and recycling accounts and 350 multifamily and City accounts. The services and related charges are broken down into three main categories.

Q: How do I dispute my solid waste bill?

You can dispute a Solid Waste dispute by completing the attached form: DPW Solid Waste Dispute Form.  Download the Dispute Form, complete it, and submit it to DPWCustomerService@atlantaga.gov with the Subject Line: Solid Waste Bill Dispute. 

Q: How do I appeal a solid waste dispute decision? 

You can appeal a Solid Waste dispute by completing the attached DPW Appeals Form. Download the Appeals Request Form, complete it, and submit it to DPWCustomerService@atlantaga.gov with the Subject Line: Solid Waste Appeals Board.
