Action Plan for Safer Streets
In September, Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms announced a two-year, $5 million plan to bring accelerated safety redesigns to Atlanta’s streets, identifying more than 20 city corridors for rapid implementation changes to improve safety for people who walk, drive, take transit or ride a bike or e-scooter.
The Action Plan for Safer Streets launched with a Pop-Up Bike Lane on 10th Street that ran from October 19th through October 26th. During the Pop-Up Bike Lane, the City collected data to monitor safety, utilization, and traffic operations. The results are available:
Through the Action Plan for Safer Streets, Atlanta will more than triple its on-street protected bike network. By the end of 2021, Atlantans will see more than 20 miles of safer streets. You can see the full target network here.
The City of Atlanta is working on designing the first batch of these rapid implementation changes and is seeking public feedback on several corridors.
Public feedback will consist of a combination of surveys and public meetings depending on the scope, project status, funding source, and schedule.

Piedmont Avenue between MLK Jr Dr. and North Ave
A public meeting was held on February 3, 2020 to get feedback (joint meeting with West Peachtree St and Spring St below). Meeting materials are posted here:
Status: Ongoing review of feedback to determine the preferred design option. Design to be conducted by Central Atlanta Progress.
West Peachtree between North Ave. and 14th St.& Spring St. between North Avenue and 14th St.
West Peachtree St and Spring St are packaged together as they are being designed together under the same contract. Preliminary engagement was conducted at the February 20th, 2019 information open house. (Comments from that meeting are available on Midtown Alliance’s website)
