Make the Right Call Campaign

Make The Right Call Logo

In an effort to reduce 911 call volume, the City of Atlanta introduces the “Make the Right Call Campaign,” emphasizing responsible use of the emergency hotline. Recent analysis reveals that a significant 60% of calls made to 911 are non-emergencies, potentially causing delays in attending to true emergencies.

Why Make the Right Call?

Some common non-emergency calls include landlord-tenant disputes, barking dogs, noise complaints, illegally parked cars, and lost property. While these concerns are important, it's crucial to reserve 911 strictly for genuine emergencies involving immediate threats to health, safety, property, house fires, vehicle accidents, or ongoing criminal activities.

What Constitutes Non-Emergencies?

Urgent but non-emergency incidents, such as crimes with no imminent threat or suspect on the scene, noise disturbances, civil disputes, car break-ins, vehicle accidents without injuries, and abandoned vehicles, should be reported to ATL311. Multiple options are available for residents to receive support from the City in true non-emergency situations.

Reporting Options

Texting 911

For enhanced accessibility, residents within city limits are encouraged to text 911 for reporting non-emergencies. Texting is suitable for matters that do not require officers to meet with the caller, ensuring safety during situations like burglaries or domestic violence.
