Mayor Kasim Reed Announces Major Expansion to the City's Curbside Recycling Program
Beginning in mid-October, the City of Atlanta will deliver 96-gallon recycling carts to 65,000 households, at the rate of one thousand per day. The citywide distribution of the large capacity recycling carts is part of Mayor Kasim Reed’s sustainability plan, which has a long-term goal of achieving 90 percent diversion of municipal waste by 2020, among other measures.

Cultural Experience Project Introduces 3,000 8th Graders to the Fox Theatre
The City of Atlanta Office of Cultural Affairs will hold a press conference to launch its signature program of the Arts in Education division the Cultural Experience Project, for the 2012-2013 school year. The Office of Cultural Affairs partners with Atlanta Public Schools to give each student the chance to encounter a rich learning experience through the city’s many premier arts and cultural venues.

Online Cultural Marketplace power2give.org Launches in Atlanta
power2give.org is an online platform that uses crowd-sourced funding to match donors with arts organizations and projects. Arts organizations vetted through the Office of Cultural Affairs’ Contracts for Arts Services program are granted access to the power2give website so they may post arts-related projects in need of funding. The public is encouraged to visit the site and support those projects through donations via the online payment tool.
