Mayor Kasim Reed and community leaders will discuss findings from the homeless registry initiative launched by the City of Atlanta. On the evening of January 17 to the early morning hours of January 18, more than 150 volunteers interviewed nearly 400 homeless individuals living in shelters and on the streets of Atlanta.

Mayor Kasim Reed announced today that the city of Atlanta has been awarded a $30,000 grant from The UPS Foundation to support its Love Your Block program. The program drives Atlanta’s volunteer spirit toward neighborhood revitalization, sustainability and beautification. The grant will be used to mobilize citizens to help plant roughly 350 trees in neighborhoods citywide. Planting trees is a key component of The UPS Foundation’s sustainability volunteer and grant-giving initiatives, with an overall mission of planting one million trees globally.

Mayor Kasim Reed joined President Barack Obama today at a rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, to show his support for the President’s comprehensive immigration reform. At the rally, President Obama outlined his immigration reform ideas, which include strengthening border security, cracking down on employers hiring undocumented workers and streamlining legal immigration.
