His One Safe City plan is a comprehensive approach that mobilizes and engages the entire city, including both law enforcement and non- law enforcement partners, to address the root causes of crime and target the gangs, drugs and illegal guns that afflict our communities.
Quality Housing for Everyone
The Dickens Administration wants to ensure that all Atlantans have access to safe, quality and affordable housing. This means development without displacement and providing residents – both newcomers and legacy residents – with diverse housing options. Mayor Dicken set the goal of building or preserving 20,000 units of affordable housing across the city over eight years.
ATL Year of the Youth
Mayor Dickens declared 2023 as Atlanta’s Year of the Youth. This initiative seeks to make Atlanta the best place in America to raise a child. Through collaborating with stakeholders, the Dickens Administration is working to expand services and amplify programs that help equip our young people – from birth to age 24 years of age – with the tools and resources they need to thrive.
Atlanta Public Safety Training Center
The City of Atlanta is building a new public safety training center to support its need for dedicated training space with modern facilities for personnel. The new center will allow sworn officers, civilian responders, firefighters, EMS, and E-911 staff to train locally and collaboratively, using modern philosophies and methodologies rooted in harm reduction.
LGBTQ Affairs
The City of Atlanta is committed to the fair treatment of all Atlantans, which includes lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer residents and visitors. The City has made significant gains towards the protection and advancement of Atlanta’s LGBTQ community, and strives to uphold a commitment to equality every day.
Women’s Entrepreneurship Initiative
The Women Entrepreneurship Initiative (WEI) is a business incubator for early-stage, women-owned businesses. Launched in 2015 with the support of the City of Atlanta and Invest Atlanta, WEI is the only municipally funded program of its kind in the nation. The 15-month incubator fosters and promotes community and spurs business growth for female entrepreneurs in a wide range of industries from transportation and logistics to healthcare, media, education and consumer goods.
Midnight Basketball League
Midnight Basketball is more than just a game. It's a fun activity for the whole family that brings communities together to support Atlanta youth. Game nights feature music, free food and community resources like job assistance, credit union services, record expungement, substance support and more.
Reproductive Health & Wellness
The Dickens Administration stands firmly in support of reproductive justice for Atlanta residents. Mayor Dickens is collaborating with members of the Atlanta City Council and other partners to explore ways in which the City can support residents that need access to reproductive healthcare.
