"At AIM, we strive to recruit and help to shape the future leaders in technology. As a City that has garnered a reputation as one of the country’s fastest-growing and most prolific technology hubs, Atlanta is well on its way to becoming one of the nation’s strongest technology meccas. We guide our interns to support a successful transition into a profession that will further enhance their career journey and hopefully provide a positive impact on our beloved City."

About the Program

Since 2015, AIM has partnered with Georgia State University (GSU) to offer capstone and graduate students a mutually beneficial internship that exchanges relevant academic knowledge for a supervised, hands-on work experience.

In 2021, AIM developed a strategic plan to begin expanding its internship program. AIM is currently establishing new relationships with local learning institutions and offering an improved holistic program. College students who are actively enrolled in one of AIM’s partner learning institutions are eligible to participate.

This program allows interns to learn the intricacies of local government as it relates to information technology. Emerging professionals can learn and thrive in the areas related to their academic majors, especially in the areas of information technology, project management, and business analysis. Additionally, students receive training in leadership development and career readiness.

This is a rewarding opportunity for the emerging intern to gain practical experience to advance their careers and/or transition into a new industry, ideally within the City of Atlanta. This exchange enhances the organization, the City, and its communities making it a win-win solution for the emerging intern and the organization.
