The City of Atlanta Street Eats program provides opportunities to food truck entrepreneurs wishing to operate in the public right-of-way from designated locations throughout the city. Learn more about how your food truck can participate below.

I'm interested in operating a food truck from the city's designated public food truck locations. How do I go about doing that?

Operating a food truck in these designated locations requires a City of Atlanta public vending food truck permit, and it is unlawful to operate a food truck from any public right-of-way location without a permit.

Once issued a permit, you have permission to operate from any designated public-right-of-way food truck location. All permit holders must make advance reservations via the city’s electronic reservation system (managed by Street Food Finder) to operate a food truck from any designated location. Each designated location has separate days and times during which food trucks may operate.

How do I apply for a City of Atlanta public vending food truck permit?

NOTE: The City of Atlanta public vending food truck permit is separate and distinct from the city’s private property food truck permit. Visit atlantaga.gov/vending to learn more about private property vending.

STEP 1: Apply for your City of Atlanta general business license

You may apply for your business license via the ATLCORE online portal. More information on how to apply is available here.

NOTE: Your public vending food truck permit is not valid unless accompanied by a City of Atlanta general business license OR a business license issued in the municipality where your food truck business is based.

STEP 2: Gather required items

The following items are required before applying for a City of Atlanta public vending food truck permit:

Georgia Department of Revenue Sales and Use Tax ID number. Visit the Georgia Department of Revenue’s website to learn more.
Copy of your mobile food unit permit from the Fulton or DeKalb County Board of Health. For more information, contact the Fulton County Board of Health Central District Office at 404-613-1303 or the DeKalb County Board of Health at 404-371-9256.

STEP 3: Submit City of Atlanta public vending food truck permit application

Submit a public vending permit application via ATLCORE, the city’s business licensing and regulatory permitting online portal. The portal can be accessed by clicking here. A valid email address is required to register for an account with ATLCORE, submit a new or renewal application or check the status of an application. In your application, you will need to provide:

Applicant’s name, address and email
Social Security number
Georgia Department of Revenue Sales and Use Tax ID number
A copy of the applicant’s state issued picture ID

A description of the items to be sold or offered for sale at designated food truck locations
A copy of the applicant’s valid mobile food unit permit from the Fulton or DeKalb County Board of Health

STEP 4: Submit required fees

Following the submission and review for completeness of your public vending food truck permit application via ATLCORE, the Office of Revenue will issue you an invoice for how to submit payment for required fees. Click here for a guide on how to pay fees online via ATLCORE.

The annual permit application fee for public vending is $75.

The annual electronic reservation fee for public food truck vending is $350. This electronic reservation fee covers the required use of the electronic reservation system (managed by Street Food Finder). A per location booking fee is not required.
The annual fee for your criminal background check is $50.
The one-time fee for fingerprinting is $20.

NOTE: All fees – including background check and fingerprinting – are non-refundable

STEP 5: Complete background check and fingerprinting at Atlanta Police Department License and Permit Unit

After you submit payment for all required fees, you must take the payment receipt to the Atlanta Police Department License and Permit Unit located at 3493 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy, NW, Atlanta, GA 30331 to complete your fingerprinting and background check requirements.

Upon background check clearance, you will be issued your public vending permit.

STEP 6: Register with Street Food Finder

After you are issued your City of Atlanta public vending food truck permit, you must register with Street Food Finder. Street Food Finder is the platform that all permitted food truck entrepreneurs must use to reserve designated food truck locations in advance of operating.
