Affordable Housing Tracker
The City of Atlanta Affordable Housing Tracker is a web-based dashboard that provides a real-time estimate of affordable housing production and preservation throughout the City since 2018. The dashboard includes a map of multifamily housing developments that achieve affordability through:
- Public subsidy that includes local public sources of funding
- Local ordinance that requires set-asides of affordable units in new construction (e.g., the City’s existing Inclusionary Zoning districts)
To date, the dashboard includes data on projects supported by Atlanta BeltLine, Inc.; Atlanta Housing; Metro Atlanta Land Bank; Invest Atlanta; MARTA; and City of Atlanta departments -- along with projects subject to affordability requirements in the City’s Inclusionary Zoning ordinances. In addition to new multifamily developments, the tracker also includes subsidy estimates for single-family homeownership programs (such as down-payment assistance) and rehab/preservation of existing affordable housing.
Only projects that are either “delivered” (e.g., have obtained a Certificate of Occupancy and/or are actively leasing), “under construction” (e.g., have obtained building permits and/or broken ground), or “closed” (e.g., have secured financing) are displayed on the Tracker and counted in its figures. Because project characteristics can change significantly during the development process -- even at these stages -- the figures showed in the Tracker should be interpreted as point-in-time estimates that are subject to change.
