What is the Atlanta Housing Commission?
The City of Atlanta Housing Commission is an independent body created by the Atlanta City Council to provide recommendations to the Mayor and City Council on housing policies, procedures, practices, and financing.
The commission's purpose, as established by municipal ordinance, is to 1) review the city's housing policies—with an emphasis on affordable housing; 2) review the city's permitting procedures related to the construction and rehabilitation of housing; 3) explore creative methods of financing affordable housing, and; 4) review housing policies, practices, and procedures of other jurisdictions.
