President Barack Obama’s Committee on the Arts and the Humanities has recognized the City of Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs’ ARTSCooL program as one of 50 exceptional programs across the country. Out of the 50 recognized programs, ten will be selected to receive a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program (NAHYP) Award. The NAHYP Award is granted to organizations that offer enriching arts and humanities learning opportunities to young people.
In compliance with the Federal Fair Housing Act, the City of Atlanta administers its housing and urban development programs in a manner as to affirmatively further fair housing (AFFH). As a direct recipient of CDBG funds from U.S. HUD, the City is required periodically to conduct an assessment of the barriers to housing choice and to develop a plan for overcoming the impediments identified. Any actions, omissions or decisions taken because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, disability or familial status that restrict housing choices are considered "impediments."
