In recognition of National Arts and Humanities Month (NAHM) and Funding for Arts Month, Atlanta City Council Member Kwanza Hall will recognize five notable organizations with a Proclamation at the City Council meeting on October 15, 2012. The Coca-Cola Company, Turner Broadcasting System, Inc., Charles Loridans and the Mark and Evelyn Trammell Foundations, the Kendeda Fund and the Zeist Foundation Inc. will receive the Proclamation.

The City of Atlanta’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Atlanta Downtown Neighborhood Association teamed up Saturday, October 6 to clean South Broad Street for the 22nd Annual Hands On Atlanta Day. Funding was awarded by the “Love Your Block” grant to purchase supplies and clean up South Broad Street, located in downtown Atlanta.

The City of Atlanta Department of Corrections, along with the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability, is teaming up with Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary School to celebrate a Green Apple Day of Service this Thursday September 27th at 9:30am. This is the second project the Department of Corrections has sponsored for Bethune Elementary, its adopted Atlanta Public School.

Mayor Kasim Reed and the Atlanta VA announced today a joint commitment to end chronic veterans’ homelessness in Atlanta by December of 2013, putting the city on a path to meet President Obama’s goal of ending veteran homelessness across the country by 2015.
